Mr. James L Rowan, 77, of Shallotte, NC entered into the glorious kingdom of heaven surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.

Jim was born on June 6, 1940 in Osage, West Virginia the son of the late Raymond & Edith Rowan. He was a retired United Mine Workers of America Union Representative. He was a minister, avid fisherman and bowler, a "die-hard" West Virginia Mountaineers & Washington Redskins fan, but above all, Jim was a devote family man. He truly loved both of his families the entire congregation of River of Life Baptist Church, Sunset Beach, NC and especially his immediate family.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Carolene Rowan of Shallotte, NC. Four daughters, Kathleen Alkire (Scott) of York, SC, Terrie Carallino (David) of Rivesville, WV, Rebecca Valentine (Robert Jack) of Fairmont, WV and Debbie Thomas (Robert) of Ocean Isle Beach, NC. One son, Perry James Rowan (Rose) of Carmichaels, PA. Nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grand children. A brother Gene Rowan (Blanche) of Fairmont, WV and a sister Evelyn Lemasters of Morgantown, WV.

Jim was preceded in death by his sisters: Thelma Mitchell, Vernie Menear, Louise Brown & Gladys Morris and his brothers Bussey, Godfrey, Kenny, Arlen & Roger Rowan.

The family would like to send a special thanks to the doctors and nurses on the 8th floor and ICU at New Hanover hospital.
