Obituary
Alfred Raymond “Fred” Ortiz, Jr, 84 of Carolina Shores, NC died Tuesday, September 26, 2017.
Born in Jersey City, NJ on June 28, 1933 he was a son of the late Alfred R. Ortiz, Sr and Marie Anderson Ortiz. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert Ortiz and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Ortiz.
He was a USMC Veteran, having served in the Korea Conflict. He was a member of the USMC League, Past Commander of American Lodge #503. Floral Park, NJ, a member of the Calabash Elks Lodge and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Mohan Ortiz of the home; sons, James Ortiz (Shelloa), Joseph Ortiz and domestic partner, Karas, Alfred Ortiz, III and life partner, Andrew, Timothy Ortiz, Charles Smith and fiancée Patti, all of Long Island, NY; daughters, Susan Ferguson (Jim), and Karen Murray (John) all of Long Island, NY; brother, Dominic Ortiz of West Hampstead, NY; a sister, Edna Roode of Calabash, NC; and thirteen grandchildren.
A mass will be celebrated Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 12:30pm in St. Brendan The Navigator Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte, NC.
