Obituary
Benedict Augustine "Ben" Lee of Calabash, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the age of 84.
Ben was born in Newark, NJ on June 8, 1933 to the late Francis X. and Agnes Fraine Lee. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Seton Hall University and was a Specialist Second Class in the US Army serving in the Korean War. He worked in the Department of Labor for the State of NJ and retired to Calabash 23 years ago, where he was a member of Nocha White American Legion Post 503 and VFW post 7288. Ben was a Legionnaire for over 60 years serving as Commander at Post level and honored to serve as NC State Commander for 2011-2012. In addition, Ben served on many state and national Committees with his favorite being the National Appointment as Chairman of the Media & Communications Commission.
In addition to his parents he is also predeceased by brothers, Robert Lee, Francis X. Lee, Jr.; sisters, Agnes Wrede and husband George, Patricia Wrede and husband Wallace, Margaret Keiser and husband Robert, Barbara Glennon and husband Richard and a great grandson, Greyson Justin Bruschi.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 28 years, Bonnie; sons, Benedict Lee Jr and wife Shelly, Michael Lee and wife Theresa, Christopher Lee and wife Pamela; daughters, Kathleen Harding and husband Michael, Mary Jo Ammon and husband Steven, Theresa Harding and husband David; stepsons, Kenneth Kramer, Edwin Kramer and wife Kathy, Thomas Kramer and wife Teri; stepdaughter, Karen Kramer; brother John Lee and wife Barbara; sister, Mary Eckardt and husband Robert; sister-in-law's, Brenda Lee and Mary Lee; nine grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and six step great-grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held at 10am on Friday, January 12, 2018 in St Brendan's Catholic Church. A reception will be held immediately following the service at Calabash Covenant Presbyterian Church. . Interment with Military Honors will be on Friday, Janurary 26, 2018 at 11am in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd. Wrightstown, NJ.
