Obituary
Bettie Hunter Ball, 83, of Shallotte NC, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, January 10, 2021. She was born on June 10, 1937 in Mecklenburg County, the daughter of the late West and Polly Hunter. Bettie was preceded in death by her son Johnny Caraway, grandson Jordan Buffkin and son-in-law Donald Sellers.
Bettie was the owner of one of the first businesses on Ocean Isle Beach known as the Ocean Isle Beach Shop & Post Office. For over 35 years Bettie served many generations of customers that soon became like family and provided many youths with their first summer job.
She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Shallotte. She was a former member of the choir and the kitchen committee. She was a member of the Young at Heart Sunday School class where she loved sharing love and laughter with her sisters in Christ. She was also a member of the Gideons International Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband Robert A. Ball, her two daughters Susie Sellers and Jane Buffkin (James), Stepson Bob Ball (Teresa), Sister Barbara Ferrell and brother West Hunter, Grandchildren Drew Sellers (Meghan), Devin Sellers (Haley), Taylor Buffkin, Skylar Jenkins, Step Grandchildren Lauren Ball, Erin Cutrell (Greg), Great Grandchildren, Dax & Milo Sellers, Remi Rae & Tatum Sellers, LouElla Buffkin, Step Grandchildren Gracelyn & Aiden Cutrell.
Pallbearers will be Drew Sellers, Devin Sellers, Jeff Ferrell, Glenn Ferrell, West Hunter and Bob Ball.
The funeral will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Shallotte. COVID-19 precautions will be followed. The family will not be receiving friends prior to the service, but they invite you to come early, 12-1 PM, for a viewing before the service and to join them at the graveside following the service, where you may also offer your condolences to the family.
