Obituary
Betty Collins Hughes Prince, 90, of Ash, NC died Tuesday, January 28, 2025, in SECU Hospice House of Brunswick.
Mrs. Prince was born in Columbus County, NC on October 29, 1934, to the late Charles Collins and Ila Prince Collins. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands Guy Albert Hughes and Boyd Paul Prince.
Mrs. Prince was a retired beautician from the Ash community. She was also a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Surviving are her two sons Albert V. Hughes and wife Jill, of Shallotte and Michael D. Hughes and wife Laurie, of Ash; four grandchildren, Michelle Long and husband Sid, Kimberly Harrison and husband Jason, Kyle Hughes and wife Heather, and Keith Hughes and wife Rhyne; and five great grandchildren, Kyleigh Mahaffey, Aaron Long, Kady Long, Kaisley Harrison, and Clara Hughes.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Brunswick Funeral Service Shallotte Chapel Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 3:00 PM by The Reverend Mark Register and The Reverend Rory Thigpen. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
The family will also receive friends after the burial at Old Shallotte Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 394 Longwood Road, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Friendship Baptist Church, 2546 Ash-Little River Rd NW, Ash, NC 28420.
Casketbearers will be Darrell Hughes, Keith Hughes, Kyle Hughes, Aaron Long, Caleb Long, and Jeff Todd.
