Obituary
Betty Grissett Walton of Ash, NC passed away on February 21, 2025. Born in Brunswick County, NC, Betty was the daughter of the late Mayham W. and Melle Pierce Grissett.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Neil Waburn Walton of the home; two sons: Ron and wife Carol, Ash, NC; Stan and special friend Dona of Wilmington, NC; two granddaughters: Rachel Burgin of Ocean Isle Beach, NC and Jillian Walton of Charlotte, NC; two great-grandsons: Noah Raderchak and Lucas Thornton, and one great granddaughter, Abigail Walton; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was the bookkeeper for the Gwynn Oil and Collier Gas Companies for more than 20 years. She worked as a successful real estate broker in Calabash for 25 years before retiring in 2012. Betty was respected and loved by every client she worked with during those years.
Betty loved her God, family and church. She served as Andrews Chapel Methodist Church treasurer for over 40 years, as well as other positions on the Administrative Board.
A memorial service will be held at Andrews Chapel Methodist Church at 1 pm on March 1, with visitation in the fellowship hall one hour prior to service and otherwise at her home at 2124 Ash-Little River Rd, Ash, N.C. A private burial will take place at the Bennett Town Cemetery, Ash Little River Road, Ash, N.C.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice and Sandy Hemingway for their expert and loving care during Betty’s final days and weeks. They could not have been better to the family in any way.
