Obituary
Brenda Jo Causey, 80, of Carolina Shores, NC died Wednesday, October 4, 2023.
Born in Horry County, SC on November 10, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Ruell Vernon Biggers and Minnie Sue Tyson Biggers. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Kemp Causey.
Brenda was a retired real estate agent and an active member of Seaside United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Seaside Quartet who won the Mixed Quartet Division at the 80th Annual State Gospel Competition in Benson, NC. Brenda went on to record her first project with them. Shortly after, Brenda was led to record as a “Solo” artist. After out only two weeks, one of her songs, “When Jesus Speaks Peace” from The New Collection-Volume 4 from Pillar Records compilation made the “Top 100 New Releases on the European Christian Country Chart”. Her second album, “Heartfelt” was reviewed and received “AAA” rating of excellence from Singing News and verbal accolades from the U.S. Gospel News. As an extension of her music ministry, she helped form the Southern Style Trio, which also has recorded a project. Brenda toured in concert for six years with the Pillar Record Family.
Brenda also had a recording contract with ACA Records. Tim Green produced her latest solo album, “When You See Me”, which was released in June 2006. One of the songs, “You Raise Me Up”, from the album has been released to over 400 radio stations. She was invited by ACA Records to sing two songs in a TV taping in October 2006 which aired nationally in the Spring of 2007.
Surviving are her sisters Patricia “Patti” Norwood (Ray) of Blairsville, GA and Janice Biggers, of Richmonda, VA; daughters Joy Elaine Causey, of Charleston, SC and Sally Patricia Causey (Ben Bloom) of Charlotte, NC.
Services will be conducted at Seaside United Methodist Church at a date to be announced.
