Obituary
Carl Leonard Smith Jr., 79, of Carolina Shores, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017.
Mr. Smith was born in Columbia, PA, to the late Carl and Jane Smith on June 18, 1938. He is also predeceased by a brother, Thomas Smith.
Carl played football in high school and for the University of Colorado. He then went on to become the President of Patent Scaffolding in Ft. Lee, NJ, a Fortune 500 company. He retired to Carolina Shores where he loved to play golf and fish. He loved to take trips with his family, particularly Blowing Rock. He was an amazing mentor to all who met him. He was a loving husband and father and the sweetest grandpa. He will be forever missed. Heartache no one can heal, Love leaves a Memory no one can steal.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley; sons, Carl Smith and wife Karen of Michigan, Greg Smith and wife Blanca of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Jim Smith and wife Marianne of New Jersey; daughter, Linda Lorraine Smith of Conway; brothers, James Smith and Robert Smith of Columbia, PA; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A mass will be held in St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church in Shallotte, NC at 10am on Wednesday, October 4, 2017.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Carl’s name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
