Carol Irene Poyer (nee Kish), 80, formerly of Mount Prospect and River Grove died peacefully, Aug. 22, 2022, at her home in Ocean Isle Beach, NC. A celebration of her life will be held later this fall in Mount Prospect. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Illinois Elks Children’s Care Corporation (www.illinoiselksccc.org). Carol was born May 28, 1942, the daughter of Milan S. and Irene (nee Leyden) Kish. She married Lawrence R. Poyer on Jan. 11, 1964, in Chicago, Ill. Carol was an Interior Designer and enjoyed gardening and spending time with friends and her grandchildren. Carol was active in her community serving as a member for over 25 years, and past president of the Des Plaines Lady Elks and was also a member of the Des Plaines Elks Lodge. Carol served as president of her condominium association board and volunteered countless hours for various disabled veterans’ groups and the Elks Children’s Care Corporation. Carol is survived by her husband, Larry of Ocean Isle Beach; two children, Kimberly L. (John Gibson) and Roger A. (Jennifer (nee Hawkins); five grandchildren; Aubrey Gibson, Benjamin Poyer, Gabriel Poyer, Elsa Poyer Vivian Poyer; her brother, Ronald Kish; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister-in-law Shirley Kish.
