Obituary
Carol Styron Coring, 75, of Greenville, SC, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Born on July 28, 1950, in Wilmington, NC, to the late William Styron and the late Hilda Muller Styron. She was of Messianic Jewish faith
and a distinguished psychotherapist and holder of a Doctorate in Divinity.
Carol's earlier years were marked by her honorable service in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. As a photographer, she contributed to documenting an important and challenging chapter in history, showcasing
her resilience and professionalism in the face of adversity.
An accomplished woman, Carol's career was characterized by her dedication to mental health and spiritual well-being. Her work as a psychotherapist was profoundly informed by the depth of her theological studies, reflecting a
unique integration of mind and spirit in her practice.
Alongside her therapeutic work, she proudly served as the manager for Peter Tork, a testament to her versatile talents and broad interests. Her personal passions included a vibrant appreciation for Rock and Roll music, particularly
the works of Billy Idol and Hall and Oates, which brought joy and energy to her life.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Carol was a proud mother and cherished "Grammi," roles she embraced with unconditional love and pride. Additionally, Carol was deeply devoted to dogs, especially German Shepherds, which she trained with great care and affection—a reflection of her compassionate nature and disciplined spirit.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, William Coring.
She is survived by daughters, Angela Hutcheson (Kelby) and Rhonda Greene; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Justin and Ellie Hutcheson, Samantha Stutts (Tyler), Sky Greene, Sydney Greene (Jason Scott) and Andrew Greene, Jr;
eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Jean Styron and her family and cherished friend Jonathan Rumburg.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Brunswick Funeral Service Southport Chapel, 3479 Southport Supply Rd NE, Bolivia, NC 28422 with her memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held at 11:45 AM, in Northwood Cemetery, 711 E Longleaf Dr, Southport, NC 28461.
