Carolyn Silvers

Carolyn Danelle Phillips Silvers, 77, of Calabash, NC passed away peacefully on August 3, 2024, at Brunswick Medical Center after a hard fought battle with illness.  She is preceded in death by her parents Daniel Phillips and Glady Overton Phillips both of Henrietta, NC and 3 sisters Ramona (infant), Agnes (infant) and Jacola Ray of Forest City, NC.

Carolyn graduated from Chase High School in Forest City, N.C. where she was a basketball standout and a true beauty. She soon married and had two children, who became her entire world. After her divorce she began a career in accounting while also working two part-time jobs to support her kids. Her fight and perseverance were lifelong lessons for her children and inspirational to all who knew her. It was in this time she met and married a dapper Marine who would stay by her side through thick and thin, for the rest of her life. They moved to Calabash, N.C. in 1999, and she began her last career move as the Tax Collector at the Town of Calabash, N.C. retiring in 2013.

Carolyn was a big kid at heart and loved her family. Her children were everything to her until she became a grandmother, and that was truly where she shined! From parties, to cakewalks, Putt-Putt to The Alabama Theater, she loved spending time with her “Grands”. And they loved it as well. This was truly her favorite time of her life.

Carolyn was a devout Christian and a true patriot. She loved the Lord and cherished her church and choir families from both Adaville Baptist Church in Spindale, N.C. and Seaside United Methodist Church in Sunset Beach, N.C.

As her time expired, her husband never left her side, and was holding her hand as Jesus took the other and led her to home.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband William Sidney Silvers; her two children Dana McCubbin (Lamar) and Jason Brooks (Josette); two sisters, Janice Baynard and Glenda Schultz; nine grandchildren, Taylor Hamrick (Eli), Peyton McCubbin, Haley Parker, Noah McCubbin (Hallie-fiancé), Gage Brooks, Kennedy McCubbin, Madeline Brooks, Kylie Brooks, and Lanie Brooks; 3 Great-grandchildren Dalton, Hadleigh, and Chloe. As well as 3 nephews; Phil Ray (Lisa), Greg Schultz (Carmen), and Jamie Baynard (Julie)

A reception will be held August 13, 2024 at 1 P.M. in Seaside United Methodist Church, 1300 Seaside Rd. SW, Sunset Beach, N.C. 28468. A memorial will follow in the sanctuary at 2 p.m.
