Charles Eric Cureton

Charles Eric Cureton, of Southport, North Carolina, passed away on June 12th, 2023, at 69. He was a father and grandfather whom his family and friends will deeply miss.

Eric was born on October 28, 1953, in Charleston, South Carolina, the son of the late West Cureton and Eula Council Cureton. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bloomsburg University, where he participated on the swim and dive team.

Eric was a Certified Public Accountant by profession and helped found Alcorn and Cureton, Ltd. with his partner Doug Alcorn in 1982. He was known for his expertise and commitment to helping his clients achieve their financial goals.

In his partial retirement, he enjoyed spending time on the beaches of Oak Island, traveling to the Caribbean and Mexico, listening to live music, and taking leisurely car rides with his dog Nikki.

He is survived by his son Patrick Cureton (Abby) of Richmond, VA; daughter Dana Rodgers (Cody) of Mercer Island, WA; his former wife, Linda Ruoss Cureton of Mercer Island, WA; grandsons Ben and Noah Cureton and Declan Rodgers; sisters Kelvie Comer, Redmond, WA, Randy Swetz, Westminster, MD, Deborah Cureton, Monmouth, OR and Liza Steele, Ambler, PA.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Eric’s memory to The Friends of Bloomsburg University Swimming Scholarship.
