December 24, 1945 - June 8, 2024
Chris Serraro, cherished husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, unexpectedly and peacefully passed away on June 8, 2024 at the age of 78. Chris was born on December 24, 1945 in Shrewsbury, England to Christine Jones and Joseph Serraro, an American World War II veteran and Purple Heart recipient. As an infant, Chris sailed with his mother on the Queen Mary II to join his father in America and settle in Mt. Vernon, NY.
Chris graduated from Mt. Saint Michael High School in 1963. After high school, Christopher married Lillian Bartz in 1971 at the Fountainhead in New Rochelle, NY. They started a family in Fleetwood but soon settled in Somers, New York where they lived for over 30 years until their move to Calabash, North Carolina. Chris worked in publishing and real estate early in his career, eventually building a successful insurance business, About Health Insurance Brokerage, Inc. and later partnered with his son, Trevor. Chris enjoyed golfing, finding fossils and metal detecting, playing poker with friends and driving his red Corvette during his years in Brunswick Plantation.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lillian Serraro; daughter Kimberly Charles, her husband RJ and their children Sylvia, Ethan and Josephine; son Trevor, his wife Sarah and their children Ella and Genevieve; younger sisters Susanne Lividini (husband Peter) and Dawn Amaker (husband Trent); and younger brothers Paul (wife Kathy) and Scott (wife Janet); sister-in-law Carol Byrne; as well as his adored nieces and nephews. Chris was predeceased by his parents and his beloved nephew Christian Serraro.
A Celebration of Christopher’s Life will be held July 27 from 12:30-4 in Brunswick Plantation, Calabash, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, in Christopher’s name to continue his legacy of giving in support of seriously ill children.
