Conrad Stout

Conrad (Connie) Stout, 92, of Little River, SC, formerly of Sunset Beach, NC, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024, in Myrtle Beach. Born October 17, 1932, in Easton, Northampton County, PA, he attended local schools and went to nearby Wilson (PA) High School. He was an outstanding student and explored his performing talents in several musicals.

Upon graduation, he attended Princeton University and was active in the Navy ROTC. Connie earned his bachelor's degree in engineering and took a job working for the Pennsylvania Railroad in their Manhattan Penn Station office. Not long after settling in NYC, Connie met his wife-to-be Danice at a restaurant on 34th St. They married on Easter Sunday, 1956 and soon became expecting parents. Together they had 3 sons over a 12-year span and he was grateful for the support she gave to both home life and career.

Connie earned an MBA from Lehigh University (Bethlehem, PA) which gained him jobs of increasing responsibility for planning and operating departments of colleges and universities. Employers included Lafayette (Easton, PA), Oberlin (Oberlin, OH) and his alma mater Princeton University (Princeton, NJ.) There he worked for the renowned nuclear fusion research effort known as Plasma Physics Lab (PPL.)  Connie did some engineering consulting work of his own before retiring.

During retirement, he enjoyed charitable work, spending time with and sharing messages online with family and friends, being social while competing in card games, board games and other leisure fun. Connie sang in the choir at Seaside United Methodist, worked with the local Lions Club, Brunswick Family Assistance, and other charities. He helped organize a group of retirees known as the ROMEOs that had Friday lunches together and did charitable fundraising.

Connie was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Danica “Danice” Stout (Mladinov) of Sunset Beach, NC; parents Howard Stout and Jennie Stout (Buss) of Wilson, PA; older brothers Ralph of Tonawanda, NY and Gerald of Palmer Township, PA. Connie is survived by sons Bill of Virginia, Roger of North Carolina, and Mark of Nevada; his grandson Riley Stout of North Caroline and granddaughter Laurel Stout, of Virginia, sister-in-law Joyce Stout of Pennsylvania, and a host of Stout and Mladinov extended family including beloved nephews and nieces with their own families.

A memorial service is scheduled for December 14, 1pm at Seaside United Methodist Church in Sunset Beach, NC. A reception will follow the service at the church.

Tributes may be posted at www.brunswickfuneralservice.com. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Seaside United Methodist Church at 1300 Seaside Rd., Sunset Beach, NC 28468.
