Obituary
Craig Lawrence Hartung, age 58, of Oak Island, North Carolina was a loving husband, father, brother and son. Craig loved fishing, cooking, music and spending time with his family.
Craig passed away peacefully in the morning of April 15, 2026, surrounded by family, after a brave fight against cancer.
All those blessed to have their lives touched by Craig knew his kind, compassionate heart, his bright, infectious smile, and his wry sense of humor. Even during his most difficult moments, he never ceased to be moved to offer genuine kindness and support to others through their life challenges.
Craig was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Hartung (2018).
He is survived by his father, Philip Hartung; wife, Melanie Hartung; children, Hailey Hartung and Danny Hartung; stepchildren, Mike Pishioneri and Sarah Pishioneri; granddaughter, Maya Green; brother, Jeff Hartung; sister, Teri Albus (Allen); and 7 nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be planned in the near future.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 955 Mercy Ln. SE, Bolivia, NC 28422 or to a charity of your choice.
