Obituary
Dale McCoy “Grumpsey” Edwards, age 80, of Shallotte passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center, Bolivia, NC.
He was born in Columbus County on September 19,1940. He was the son of the late Fred Win Edwards and Vara Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beryl Carrol “Mumpsey” Edwards.
Dale was a veteran of the United States Air Force after serving for twenty-one years until his retirement and also retired from the Department of Trasportation. He was a member of Jennies Branch Baptist Church and also a member of the Royal Order of the Moose.
Surviving are a son, Gary D. Edwards and wife, Melinda of Myrtle Beach, SC; two daughters, Jo O’Grady and husband, Mick of England, and Lyn Edwards Price of Carolina Shores; two brothers, Wayne Edwards of Wilmington, NC, and Gene Edwards of Shallotte, NC; two sisters, Jacqueline Vann and Carolyn Edwards, both of Wilmington, NC; four grandchildren: Heather “Pru” Jones, Beryl “Gemma” Lexi Edwards, Taylor “ Chess” Edwards, and Ali “Bliss” Price.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 in Brunswick Memorial Gardens, officiated by Reverend Mark Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice LifeCare, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
