Darious LeGrant Babson

Darious LeGrant Babson, 65, of Ash, NC died Saturday, October 27, 2018.

He was born in Columbus County, NC on April 29, 1953, son of the late Newman Babson and Myrlie Simmons Babson. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a daughter, Carmen Babson; sister Jane Carol Powell; brothers William “Bunny” Babson, Norvan Babson and Danny Babson.

He was a retired millwright having been employed by Riegelwood Paper Co. (known as Federal Paper Co. and now International Paper Co.) He loved to cook for family and friends and at one time owned and operated Dad’s Café in Whiteville, NC.

Surviving are his wife, Stella Alambis Babson; sons, Tony Babson(Ashley) of Nakina, NC and Bruce Babson (Courtney) of Ash, NC; daughters, Nicole Evans (Ron) and Jennifer Syvanthong (Chick) both of Huntersville, NC; brother, Harold Babson (Jettie) of Old Dock; grandchildren, Hadley, Melody, Colin, Rylee, Jackson, Lila and Carmen; three sisters-in-law, Jean Babson of Old Dock, Shirley Babson of Bolivia, and Theresa Babson of Ash; and his canine boys, Mike and Ike.

Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 3:00 pm in Soldier Bay Baptist Church where he was a member by The Rev. Jason L. Benton and The Rev. Brad Ferguson. Burial will follow in the Babson Memorial Cemetery on Big Neck Road in Ash, NC.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Active pallbearers will be, Kevin Hollister, Jason Coveyou, Victor Rodriguez, Walt Kissell, Matthew Babson and Travis Ransom. Honorary pallbearers will be Trent Evans,William Warren and Johnny Clyde Johnson.
