David Lynn Smith, 48 of Ash, NC gained his wings on January 11, 2025. Born in New Hanover County, NC on January 5, 1977. He was the son of Mary McCumbee Lewis (Michael) and Lindberg Smith (Carrie). David was preceded in death by John B. and Deloris “Monk” McCumbee (maternal grandparents) ,Junior and Mina Smith (paternal grandparents) and Deborah A Milliken (maternal aunt).

David was born as a “Living Angel”.  He loved listening to Classic Rock Music and Disney Movies. David has tons of stuffed toys which aided him for comfort due to physical condition. Everyone he crossed paths with enjoyed his laughter and smiles.

David’s surviving family members include Clay Smith (Half-brother), Nikki Smith (Half-sister), Thomas Lewis (Step-brother), Belinda Benz (Maternal Aunt), Johnia McCumbee (Maternal Aunt), Charlotte Evans (Maternal Aunt), Diane Tripp (Paternal Aunt), Johnny Smith (Paternal Uncle) and Lou Smith (Paternal Uncle).

Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel at Brunswick Funeral Service Shallotte officiated by the Reverend Jason L. Benton.  Family visitation will be held at 11am prior to his service. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers are Weston Evans, Ryan Evans, Asa McCumbee, Elijah Webb, Gary Woodard and Clay Smith. Honorary Pallbearers include Abram Benz, Terry Milliken, Cordell Simmons and Daniel Isenhour.
