Dean Gerard Siler
Obituary
Dean Gerard Siler passed away Tuesday, January 14th, 2020 at his home in Ocean Isle Beach, NC at the age of 57.
Dean was born on February 23, 1962 in Saginaw, Michigan to Virginia and Raymond G. Siler as the 5th of 6 children. He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Karin Little, from Hemlock, MI, in 1982. They soon added a daughter, Rachal, and son, Jonathon, to their family. In 1991, Dean and Karin both gave their lives to the Lord at Living Waters Bible Camp in Wisconsin. Together, they raised their 2 children while serving at this camp and later moved on to serve at the sister camp, Hickory Cove Bible Camp, in Hickory, NC. They lead by example, instilling a heart for joyful service and generosity in their children as well.
In 1999, they moved to Brunswick County and started a family run business in the construction and renovation industry. Dean saw this business as another opportunity to pour into the lives of others and used the office as a place to serve free, hot meals on Thanksgiving and Christmas day to anyone in the community who was in need. The business also supported outreach missions such as tent revivals and Christian music concerts through Faith Building Missions and Kingdom Productions.
Dean was a man who believed in giving second, third, and fourth chances. He would readily admit that he was not a perfect man, but he rested in the love and forgiveness of his Savior. He understood that his own brokenness and the brokenness of the world around him could only be made whole through the love of Jesus. His life was lived with that goal– to show others the love of God through serving them with his time, talents, and resources.
On any given day, you could find Dean fishing with his family up on Lake Michigan, overseeing construction projects for the business, or traveling around to various concerts he was helping facilitate. Undoubtedly, his favorite place to be was with his wife, children, and grandchildren who gave him such great joy.
Dean is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Siler. He is survived by his mother, Virginia Ann Siler, his wife, Karin Siler, daughter Rachal, son Jonathon, daughter-in-law, Hannah, and grandchildren, Emery (4) and Ava (2). He is also survived by his 5 siblings Dan (Kathy) Siler, Darlene (Dick) Emery, Dennis (Mary Ann) Siler, Denise (Steve) Siler-McComb, Doug Siler, and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend an invitation to join them for a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 11am. The service will be held at Beach Assembly of God (20 Bliss Rd NW, Ocean Isle Beach, NC) in the tent next to the church building. All are welcomed to join us as we celebrate Dean’s Life, and worship the Lord in whom Dean placed his hope. The family rests in this same hope and peace, knowing that when Dean saw his Savior face to face, he was told, “well done” and welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus.
"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!' Matthew 25:23 (NIV)
A memorial service will also be held in Dean’s hometown of Merrill, MI on Saturday April 18, 2020 at 11am. The service will be held at St John 23 Parish Sacred Heart Church (?445 S. Midland St.Merrill, Michigan 48637).
