Debbie O’Connor, 70, of Calabash, NC passed away suddenly on December 25, 2024.
Born in Patterson, NJ October 31st, 1954 the daughter of the late Tess and Gene Carola.
She is survived by her loving children Ryan O’Connor, Megan Williams and her husband Caleb Williams. Her Loving husband Dan of 30 years, Brother Bob Carola and Wife Elaine, Sister Lynn Magoffin and several nieces and nephews.
Debbie spent her Childhood years growing up in Colts Neck New Jersey. Upon Graduation from High School, she went to the University of South Florida in Tampa. She graduated with an education degree and started working as a Special education teacher in the Florida school system. She moved to Orlando, Florida in 1985 and met her future husband Dan in 1986. During the Dating years Debbie and Dan enjoyed travel, beach time, movies and restaurants. Dan Proposed to Debbie Christmas morning 1993. Dan and Debbie were married in 1994.
In 1995 they welcome twins Megan and Ryan into the world. Megan and Ryan were the love of Debbie’s Life. She loved being a mother, and she would do anything for her children. After a year off, Debbie returned to work as a special education teacher in Seminole County, Florida. Debbie was a compassionate teacher for the special needs children. Debbie and Dan raised the family together in Oviedo, Florida. While in Oviedo the family formed lasting friendships with the neighbors. After over 30 years in education Debbie Retired from teaching in 2015.
Debbie was the center piece that held the family together. Debbie enjoyed watching scary movies, the Hallmark channel Christmas shows and a nice glass of Pinot Grigio. She enjoyed baking cookies and cakes for the family. She loved Christmas and always made sure Christmas morning and birthdays were a special time with family and friends.
In 2020 Dan and Debbie retired to Calabash, NC. Debbie found the perfect place for retirement; a place close to the beach, a house that fit perfect for them and the three dogs and a new neighborhood with friendly people. Debbie enjoyed the times at Sunset beach, new opportunities for travel and the local Restaurants.
A viewing will be held Monday, December 30, 2024, from 4-6 PM, at Brunswick Funeral Service in Shallotte. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church at 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 31st in Shallotte. Following the Mass a reception will be held at the church.
