Delores “Dee” Smith Abney, 82, of Carolina Shores died March 14, 2021. She was born in Laurinburg, NC on February 14, 1939, a daughter of the late William J. Smith and Nora Lee West Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William J. Smith, Jr. and Howard Smith and her sister, Gladys Ward. 

She was owner of Seaside Carpet in Sunset Beach until the early eighties.  She was a member of Breath of Life Church, a devoted mother and a loyal friend to many.  

Surviving are her husband, Glenn Speaks; son, James “Buddy” Gardner of Ash; daughter, Jan Bottomly of Carolina Shores; and grandchildren, Nicole Bottomly, Buddy Gardner, and Kristy Payne; and great grandchildren, C. J., Kristopher, Cassie, and Kailey.

Services will be conducted from the graveside at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 19^th, in Hillside Cemetery, Laurinburg, NC by The Rev. Dr. Dwarka Ramphal.
