Delorese Hewett of Shallotte, born May 21, 1938, made her Heavenly journey on November 21, 2017 while under the loving care of the staff of The Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Preceded in death by her father, Thomas Marion Hewett Sr., mother Ruby Hewett, and brother, Thomas Marion Hewett Jr. Delorese is survived by sisters Joyce Whaley (Preston), Pat Williams, special nieces and nephews, Lisa Babson, Carolyn Whaley, Mitchell Whaley, Bradley Whaley, Joseph Babson, Faith Babson, Diane Sellers and Abby Woodell. Known to those closest to her as “Sissy,” she was known for her love of any sort of collectible figurines, pennies, marbles, pocket knives, and Santa Clause. She left an impression on everyone she encountered and was loved dearly by all of her family. The family asks for your prayers as they grieve an integral part of their family. Heaven and Earth may separate us today, but nothing will change the fact that we’ll meet again one sweet day.

Services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, November 24, 2017 with visitation one hour prior at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte, NC, with Reverend Raymond F. (Ray) Faircloth, Sr. officiating. Pall bearers include Bradley Whaley, Mitchell Whaley, Joseph Babson, Kasey Whaley, Carl Hewett and James Allen Hewett. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Supply, NC
