Deloris “Monk” Ann McCumbee, 84, of Ash, NC, died February 16, 2022. Born in Columbus County on September 6, 1937, she was a daughter of the late John Henry Vanderbuilt Gore and Mary Ella Gore Gore and Tallulah R. Gore. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Bouie McCumbee; daughter, Deborah M., Milliken; siblings, Cecil C. Gore, Joseph C. Gore, Hazel V. Gore, Mary V. Gore, Henry W. Gore, Billy R. Gore, Jimmy B. Gore, Kenneth E. Gore and Wade M.Gore.
She was a retired seamstress and a member of the Bug Hill Senior Citizens Group, and an active member of Soldier Bay Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughters, Mary Lewis (Michael), Belinda Benz (Kevin), and Johnia McCumbee, of Ash and Charlotte Evans (Jeff) of Shallotte, NC; brother, Paul R. Gore, Shallotte; sisters, Esther J. Moses, Shallotte, Shelby Jean Linton, Thorntown, IN and Ann R. Worthington, Whiteville, NC; a beloved son-in-law, Terry W. Milliken, (Delois) Ash; grandchildren, David L. Smith, Terra Milliken, Brandy L. Benz, Anna M. Woodard, John Weston Evans, Abram C. Benz, Jeffery Ryan Evans, Lilley R. Benz, and Richard Asa McCumbee; three great grandsons, a great granddaughter and a future great granddaughter; special and loving extended family, Jane M. Gore, Faye W. Gore, Sue M. Simmons, Terry McCumbee and Lena G. Gurganus.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 21, 2022 at 12:00 Noon in Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel, Shallotte. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, and request you wear masks and practice social distancing.
