Dianne Ferguson

Dianne Ferguson of Shallotte and formerly of Raleigh passed from this life and entered her eternal home on May 3, 2021 surrounded by her loving family and friends. Dianne was born in Patuxent River, Maryland on March 25, 1955. She was the daughter of Edwin and Dottie Alston.

Dianne married her soul mate Brad on August 8th, 1987. Their life together centered around God’s church, serving together churches in the Raleigh area for 18 years until they relocated to Shallotte to serve New Beginnings Community Church in 2006. Dianne was a faithful pastor’s wife, making innumerable sacrifices to follow God’s call that she shared with Brad. Dianne loved Jesus, enjoying worship, teaching children, youth and adults about how special it is to have a full and meaningful life with Christ. She was a student of God’s Word. Her friends would say that her best friend was Jesus.

Dianne and Brad enjoyed mission trips to Mexico, traveling, to such places as Hawaii, Europe, Canada, the Caribbean and one of their favorite places, Grand Cayman.

Dianne was not comfortable speaking in public, although she did it on occasion when asked. Her most important ministry was in small groups and with people one on one. She was always offering a prayer on behalf of someone struggling with life issues, or taking a meal to someone following surgery or experiencing a loss.

What Dianne enjoyed most was being a wife to Brad and mother to Nathan, Aaron and Jacob. Homeschooling all three boys until they were ready to go to public school gave her precious time with each of them, teaching not only life skills, but also spiritual truth, passing on the light that she carried to her boys who would carry it to others.

Being a pastor’s wife is not an easy role to fill. But she did it with such class and humility, always putting others before herself. She was the epitome of a servant hearted follower of Jesus.

Dianne is survived by her loving husband, Brad, sons Nathan (Ashley) of Shallotte, Aaron of Wilmington, Jacob (Mary Britt) of Raleigh, granddaughter Margot Ferguson, Sisters Chris Alston and Amy Mather (Jason) of Raleigh, brothers Ed Alston (Shelley) and David (April) of Raleigh, Best Friend Shannon Watkins (Battle) of Raleigh and countless nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the care Dianne received at The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke and care provided by Liberty Home Care and Lower Cape Fear Life Care. Memorial Contributions can be made to New Beginnings Community Church Debt Retirement/Building Fund PO Box 2797 Shallotte, NC 28459
