Obituary
Dona Mae (Sallinger) Ondick, 94, formerly of Sunset Beach, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, following a time of declining health.
Dona was born on May 23, 1931, in Munhall, PA. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Frieda Sallinger. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 57 years, William Ondick.
When they married in 1953, the couple moved to Levittown, Pa and later to Richboro, PA, where they would spend the next 35 years before relocating to the Sunset Beach area in 2003.
Dona worked for several years at the bank and later for many years at The Carriage Stop gift shop in Richboro, where she loved meeting and interacting with the customers, who became like family!
Her family was her greatest joy, and she loved spending time with them as well as her many friends, and of course her sweet little shih tzu companion, Charlie!
Dona found joy in the simple moments, gardening, entertaining, and creating a welcoming home! She enjoyed spending time with her neighborhood friends, whether it be playing Bunco, attending ladies’ luncheons or hosting book club!
She was a member of Seaside United Methodist Church.
She loved cheering for her Steelers, Eagles, Nittany Lions and Blue Devils!
Dona lived a full, blessed life! She had a beautiful heart and treated everyone with love and kindness!
Dona is survived by her daughter, Jill and husband Robert (Flack/Flackaroonie) Flaccavento, grandsons, Brett Flaccavento, Zachary Flacccavento and wife Breanna. She is also survived by a sister, Bernice Wilkinson, and many special nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family requests any donations be directed to: Lower Cape Fear LifeCare or Duke Children’s Hospital.
