Donald Earl Warren

Donald Earl Warren

Donald (Don) Earl Warren, Sr. of Carolina Shores, NC, was a loving father, grandfather and friend who passed away peacefully on April 15, 2021, at the age of 73. He was active in retirement working part time and enjoying his morning walks with his great friends and neighbors and having the occasional evening get together.
Donald was born to the late Katherine and James Warren, Jr. in Greenville, NC on April 7, 1948. While growing up in Oxford, NC, he enjoyed many activities and sports with his three brothers Mike, Earnest and Mark. After graduating from Oxford Webb High School, he received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from East Carolina University in 1970.   After a stint with the United States Marine Corps, Donald embarked on a very successful banking career for 20+ years.

Banking brought Donald and his family to Brunswick County and Ocean Isle Beach in 1982 and he has been an “old salt” ever since. After becoming Area Vice President, he led the expansion of four new Southern National Bank branches to southern Brunswick County. Donald transitioned over to the insurance business in 1990 and worked for Farm Bureau for nearly 20 years where he never met a stranger and loved his co-workers. In the early 1990’s, he felt the call to serve the people of Brunswick County where he was a County Commissioner over multiple terms while also serving as Chairman for a period of time. Donald also served on the boards for the Brunswick County Partnership for Children, Department of Social Services and the County Parks and Recreation. He was a Mason and a Shriner.

Donald took lots of joy in his children and grandchildren success in life. He was active in both sons youth sports activities coaching many teams throughout the years. He enjoyed reading as well as fishing and golfing with his great buddies (too many to count) throughout the years. He always be remembered as a diehard ECU Pirates Fan and enjoyed many a tailgate and football games at Dowdy Ficklen Stadium in Greenville.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Donnie (Jennifer); son, Neil (Sherry); brother Mike (Gail); brother Earnest (Jackie); brother Mark (Pam). As Paw Paw, he will be remembered and loved by his grandchildren: Grace, Cameron and Abby.
