Donald Eugene Hart, 88, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at home following a brief illness.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Evelyn (Highley) Hart; his son David Hart and his wife Nancy; his daughter Julia Continisio and her husband Richard, his daughter Donna Buzby and her husband David; ten grandchildren; relatives, and many friends.

Born and raised in Easton, Pennsylvania, the son of Herman and Dorothy (Kline) Hart, he was a long time resident of New Jersey, before moving to Carolina Shores.

In his early years, Don loved baseball and other sports, which he played through high school. He graduated from Lehigh University in 1952 with a bachelor's degree in Accounting. He met Evelyn, at Camp Cherokee where they worked as summer camp counselors and they were married in 1953 at Cheltenham Methodist Church in Cheltenham, PA.

Don began work as an accountant and played for several years on the company’s competitive baseball team. His entrepreneurial spirit lead him to develop a number of small businesses throughout his life. He retired as the City Administrator of the City of Ocean City, New Jersey and was a member of the Calabash Lodge of the Elks Fraternal Organization.

An avid bridge and poker player, he loved woodworking and model cars. He reminds us all to stop and smell the roses. Don’t worry- be happy.

A memorial service will be held 11am on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Calabash. Burial was private.
