Doreen Mary Tidd Strickland, age 88 of Southport, NC, died Sunday, September 15, 2024, at her daughter Donna's home.
Doreen was born in England on March 21, 1936, to Ernest and Dorothy Tidd.
She spent her early years in England and met William Strickland while he was stationed there in the US Military. She married him and came to the States where they lived in several places as William completed his career, settling in Dudley, NC. Doreen enjoyed golf, swimming, taking walks and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving Mother and Nanny and she had a huge heart and a lovely smile. She will be sorely missed and forever in the hearts of those who loved her so much.
She is survived by her husband: William Robert Strickland; daughters: Donna Gagnon (Robert) of Southport, NC; Emma Scoggins (Simon) of O'Fallon, IL; son: Pete Strickland of Goldsboro, NC; stepdaughter Lynn Worley (Wayne) of Princeton, NC; sister: Anne Jones of England; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents: Ernest and Dorothy Tidd; sisters: Beryl and Jan; and sons: Lee and Roy Strickland.
