It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Williamson Nance, 81, of Calabash, NC.
Doris was the beloved owner of Captain Nance Restaurant, where she dedicated herself to creating an environment of love and joy for all that came through the doors. She was unwavering to the restaurant and her community where she will leave a lasting legacy. Her family always came first, and she showered them with her love always. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all those she touched.
Born in Horry County, SC on September 20, 1942, a daughter of the late John Bunn Williamson and Bell Jones Williamson. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by husbands Norman Long and Lennon Nance and a special friend Jehu Padgett and siblings Glen, Odell, Curtis, Joyce, Ulysses, Forrest, Madeline and Kathleen.
Surviving are her children Melinda McCollum (Scott), Wayne Long (Carole), Mike Long (Sherry) and Rod Long (Donna); sisters Lillie Suggs and Lois Little; grandchildren Corey Bellamy, Tara Bellamy, Emily Long, Ethan Long, Matthew Long, Sarah Stevens, Jonathan Long, Autumn McCumbee, Emma Bartlett, Beth Hardgrove and Amanda Heard; great-grandchildren Ella, South, Jordyn, Noa, Layla, Raelynn, Summer, Justin, Alyssa, Maddie, Hannah, Austin, Amya, Braxton, Bella, and Munday; great great-grandchildren Kennedy, King and Meadow.
Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, January 19, 2024, at 12:00PM in Beulah Baptist Church (670 Hickman Rd NW, Calabash, NC 28467) officiated by the Reverend John Bracey and the Reverend D.L. Little. A burial will follow in the Thomas Family Cemetery, Calabash, NC.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church and other times from the residence.
Casketbearers will be grandsons and Darrick Stanley.
