Edward Charles Voitus

Edward Charles Voitus was called by our Lord to his heavenly home on February 19, 2026, at the age of 87 at Brunswick Medical Center, Bolivia, NC.  He was born July 12, 1938, to the late Thomas Joseph Voitus and Susan Julia Struhalla Voitus in Youngstown, OH.

He was a veteran of the US Navy serving 2 years active duty on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Franklin Roosevelt and 10 years naval reserve.  Edward lived a life of adventure and serving others.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking, rafting, sailing, traveling (especially to Ireland), yardwork, drawing, writing poetry, and woodworking.  He was also an assistant Boy Scout Leader, a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, and a dedicated fan of the Atlanta Braves.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He is survived by three children: Kristine Renee Grogan and husband Joseph of Bolivia, NC, Karen Patricia Cody of Bolivia, NC, and Fr. Joshua Adam Voitus of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren: John-Paul Cody of Raleigh, NC, Kara Elizabeth Cody of Raleigh, NC, and Maria Christina Cody of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Barbara Voitus of Youngstown, OH; a brother, Thomas Voitus of Carmel, CA; a lifelong friend, Patricia Zaccardo, and loving companion, Oliver the cat.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife; Joanne Achimon Voitus, two brothers: Frank Voitus and John Voitus, and three sisters: Katherine Voitus Gillen, Agnes Voitus Scott, and Wilma Voitus Hripko.

The requiem Mass will be at 1pm, Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 375 Lumen Christi Lane, Salisbury, NC  28147.  Online condolences can be made to the family at Brunswick Funeral Service website.
