Obituary
Elbert Wayne Collins, age 77, left his earthly home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 1, 2022 at his home. He was born in Lee County on November 21, 1944 to the late E. B. Collins and Myrtle Stewart both of Sanford, NC. He worked for Continental General Tire for almost thirty years. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, sports of all kinds and was a dedicated UNC Chapel Hill Fan. He enjoyed life to its fullest.
He is survived by his friend and companion, Gene Baker. He is also survived by his son, Chris Collins (Diane) of Lincolnton, NC; two daughters, Lou Ann Currin of Charlotte, NC and Angel (Darren) of Alexis, NC; and their mother Lunette Collins of Lincolnton.
He leaves behind four granddaughters; Jenney Aiken (Brandon) of Lincolnton, Makensie Currin, Lauren Currin and Reece Enderby of Charlotte and one grandson, Andrew Collins of Lincolnton. He also leaves behind one great granddaughter, Naomi Aiken.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, January 15, 2022, at Victory Life Assembly of God, Cherryville, NC.
