Eleanor Jane Simpson (Jane) went home to be with the Lord on Saturday May 17th, 2025, just 9 days after her 95th Birthday.
Born on May 8th, 1930, in Stokesdale, NC, Jane was the only child of Dan and Maude Pegram. A lifelong resident of Guilford County and Oak Island, NC. Her love of music led her to study music at what was Women’s College at the time and is now UNCG. Jane married James Robert Simpson, Jr (Jimmy) on August 12th, 1950 and they were married for 61 years until Jimmy’s passing in November of 2011. They loved spending time with family and friends at the beach, retiring to Oak Island in 2004 to be near the beach they loved. Her love of and devotion to her faith poured into her relationships with her friends and family especially in her loving marriage to Jimmy, with their tenderness, joy and devotion to one another.
Guided by her deep Christian faith, Jane lived to share the love of Christ with all that entered her life. She had a deep love of family and friends and was known for her sweet spirit, kindness and generosity. She often opened her home for those in need and served the community by her involvement in the Meals on Wheels program in SE Guilford. She was a driven prayer warrior who found joy in prayer, strength in the scriptures, and peace in the promises of eternal life.
A Charter Member of Southeast Baptist Church in SE Greensboro Jane served many roles at the Church. A Sunday School Teacher, choir member as well as the President of the WMU.
Jane was proceeded in death by her parents Dan and Maude Pegram, her Husband Jimmy Simpson and son-in-law Richard (Dick) Jenkins. Jane is survived by her Daughter Sandra Simpson Jenkins of Mebane, NC, Son James D. Simpson and Wife Becky Simpson of Oak Ridge NC, Daughter Debbie Jarrett and Husband Ron Jarrett of Oak Island, NC, Daughter Tanya Brown and Husband Ruark Brown of Bluffton, SC. She was a loving Grandma to 8 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Brunswick Funeral Service in Bolivia on Saturday May 31st at 1:00 with a Celebration of Life following at 2:00.
In lieu of Flowers the family is requesting contributions to be made in her memory to the charity of your choice.
