Obituary
Elizabeth Ann Walsh, age 88 of Ocean Isle Beach died Thursday, October 31, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 16, 1936, in Pottsville, PA to Joseph and Elizabeth Coonan Luscan.
She graduated from Pottsville High in 1954. She then honorably served in the USAF earning a top-secret clearance. She is preceded in death by her husbands: Duane G. Smed (1961), and John F. Walsh, Sr. (2019); daughter Maureen Walsh, son: Thomas G. Smed; infant grandson: John F Walsh III, and grandson: Matthew B. Edwards.
She is survived by sons: John F. Walsh Jr. (Deborah); Robert A. Walsh (Kathy); Vincent J. Walsh (Grace); daughters: Kathryn L. Garrity (John); Phyllis A. Merlo (William); Diane Smed Edwards and Elizabeth J. Kleedorfer; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Elizabeth volunteered at the Blue Army Shrine in Asbury, NJ. for many years. She was active in her faith as a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church where she also volunteered in the church office. She enjoyed spending time with her family and shopping.
The Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Brendan Catholic Church 5101 Ocean Hwy W Shallotte, NC 28470. Interment will follow in the church columbarium.
