Elizabeth Long Willis age 94, died at Coastal Pointe in Shallotte on Sunday September 3rd.

She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Florrie Long of Hickmans Crossroads. She played basketball at Shallotte High School, helping lead her team to win the State Championships in 1947.

She took pride in being an entrepreneur for over thirty years, owning two businesses, first Scotty's and then Bryan's of Shallotte until she retired at the age of 72. She modeled that independent spirit to her children who all went on to own local businesses as well. 

 She loved spending time with her children and grand children and recently a great granddaughter.

 She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty three years, A.B. Willis Jr. and a brother, Thomas Oneil Long.

She is survived by a brother, Paul Jennings Long of Rutherfordton NC, her three children: Delana Holden, Al Willis (Karen), and Ann Hucks (Reggie). She is also survived by five grandchildren: Erin Catucci (Andy), Lillian Willis, Bryan Willis, Callie Hucks, Tyler Hucks, and one great grand child, Isabella Catucci. In addition, Terry Willis (mother of Lillian and Bryan).

The family would like to extend gratitude to Coastal Pointe Assisted Living and Amedisys Hospice Care. 

Services will be held at Brunswick Funeral Home on Sunday September 10th at 2:00 pm with visitation 1 hour before at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Amedisys Hospice Care.
