Obituary
Elizabeth J. Zegan, 83, of Shallotte, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 20, 2017.
Born in New Jersey on October 11, 1933, she was a daughter to the late Joseph Jordan and Anna Owgonowski Jordan. She was also predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Joseph Zegan.
She worked as a registered nurse and retired after 55 years of service. After winning her fight with cancer, she continued in her service to others as a counselor. She was a founding member of St. Brendan the Navigator Roman Catholic Church and remained very active in the church as a Eucharistic Minister and a Columbiette. She was also a world-renowned pine needle basket weaver, whose work can be found all over the world.
She leaves behind a daughter, Theresa Reiter (Steve) and grandson Kevin of Supply, NC; a brother, Joseph Jordan (Terry) of Tampa, Florida; a sister-in-law, Elaine Lowell (Yogi) of Seattle, WA; as well as many, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Brendan the Navigator Roman Catholic Church in Shallotte, NC.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice or Paws Place no-kill animal shelter, Bolivia, NC.
