Obituary
Erwin Robert “Bud” Sweetman, 94, of Sunset Beach, NC died August 1, 2017.
Born in Wiccopee, NY on January 16, 1923 a son of the late John and Jennie Gatter Sweetman. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Shirley Elizabeth Palmer Sweetman and a son Glenn B. Sweetman.
He was a retired cosmetologist and a US Army Veteran of WWII and the recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals and was very proud to have donated over 300 pints of blood to the American Red Cross. He was a life member of Calabash VFW Post #7288 and the American Legion Post, Spring Valley, NY.
Surviving are sons, Craig R. Sweetman (Patrice) of Sunset Beach, NC and Ronald J. Buesing (Dru) of Lake Lure, NC; a daughter, Susan Lee Seltzer (Jon) of Myrtle Beach, SC; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to American Legion Post 503, 10277 Beach Drive SW, Calabash, NC 28467.
