Frances Luanna Hillsgrove

Frances Luanna Hillsgrove, 97, of Sunset Beach, NC passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Frances was born on September 29, 1928, in Gilmanton, NH and was the daughter of the late Harold Prescott and Caroline Eastman Prescott.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Merl Hillsgrove, son-in-law, George Rines, grandson, Kevin Caldwell, step siblings Patricia Lique and Richard Hillsgrove; and her four step children.

She is survived by her children, James Hillsgrove, wife (Bonnie) of Amherst, NH, Carolyn Rines of Sunset Beach, NC, Marjorie Durkee, husband (Kevin) of Longs, SC, and stepson Robert Hillsgrove, wife (JoAnne) of Clarmont, NH. Grandchildren; James Hillsgrove, Jr., Jayma Robinson, Lisa Caldwell, Kenneth Durkee, Jeff Hillsgrove, and Christina MacDonald. Great grandchildren; Julia, Nathan, Gabriell, Garrett, Danielle, McKenzie, Hayden, and Kailin; and one great-great grandchild, Addley.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date from the home of her daughter, Carolyn Rines. 

Final resting place will be in New Hampshire during the summer.

If you would like to donate in memory of Frances, the family ask that it be made to either the local Brunswick County Meals on Wheels or to the Meal on Wheels in New Hampshire.
