Frederick Morabito

Frederick Morabito

It is with heartfelt sadness that I inform the St. James community of the passing of my beloved husband Frederick Morabito, better known as Fred on April 15, 2023 at LCF Hospice Center. He was surrounded by his wife of 54 years and his three children, Anthony, Tim, and Erin.

He was born and raised in Irvington-on-the Hudson in NY. Fred enlisted and served in the US Navy from 1964 to 1968. He was transferred to the Marines as a Medical Corpsman and served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. Upon discharge, he worked as a hemodialysis technician at Westchester County Medical Center, Valhalla, NY where he met the love of his life Maureen, a student nurse at the time. They later married and relocated to Chester, PA where he was instrumental in opening the Hemodialysis Center at Crozier Medical Center.

His life-long desire to be a policeman finally came to fruition and he entered the Greenburgh Police Department from where he retired after 18 years. When he learned that his son Tim was traded to the new franchise in the NFL, the Carolina Panthers, he had to move to NC so he could go to all the home games. Fred and Maureen retired to St. James in 2002 where he enjoyed playing golf with his friends and having breakfast each day at Tommy Thompson’s or Local’s with the “Boys”. He loved the outdoors and devoted a great deal of time and energy into gardening. He also had a love of animals and did all he could for rescue animals. Fred was a devoted husband, a doting father, and a loving grandfather to his six grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Maureen, children Anthony, Erin, Tim and his wife Hillary and their six children Mychal, Noah, Levi, Asher, Eden and Holland; and his fur baby Katie.

He will be greatly missed.

Services will be announced at a later date.

Those who wish may contribute in his name to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center in Bolivia or SOAR.
