Frederick Thomas Simmons, 89, died Wednesday, August 27, 2025. Fred was one of seven siblings born to Lella Mae Thomas and Vincent William Simmons of Calabash. A gentle and gracious man, he was a long-time member, former deacon, and dedicated worker at Brunswick Islands Baptist Church where he served on the Loaves and Fishes Ministry. He was also instrumental in building the church fellowship hall.

Fred retired from Federal Paper Board after forty years. A farmer at heart, he enjoyed working on his farm and for fun he liked a good round of golf. He was a fifty-year member of the Sudan Shrine.  

Surviving are his loving wife, Lynda White Simmons; daughters, Kimberly (Joey) Galloway, Kelly (Poli) Barefoot and Shelly (Brad) Cheers; stepson, Scottie (Susie) Babson; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and sister, Betty Leonard.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 30, at Brunswick Islands Baptist Church by The Reverend Keith McKinney and The Reverend Dr. Rudy Ramphal. Burial will be in Brunswick Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites.

The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 30, prior to the Funeral Service and other times at the Simmons Home at 1000 Frederick Trail, Supply, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Brunswick Islands Baptist Church Loaves and Fishes Ministry, 1672 Mt. Pisgah Road, SW, Supply, NC 28462.
