Gary Gene Krafft
Obituary
Gary Gene Krafft, 77, passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2026, with his wife by his side. Gary was born on May 31, 1949, in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, to Luther and Kathy (Snader) Krafft.
Gary was the devoted husband of Rosalind (Roz) (Steffy) Krafft, his high school sweetheart, celebrating 57 years of marriage this year. His greatest pride was his family- his son, Matthew Krafft of Southport, NC, his daughter, Kathy Miller of Lancaster, PA, wife of Larry Miller, and his granddaughter, Mataya Chap of Wilmington, NC.
Gary graduated from Ephrata High School, Gettysburg College and Dickenson Law School. He began his legal career as an assistant District Attorney of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania for 12 years and was a founding partner of Russell, Krafft & Gruber Law firm.
Gary was a man of character, had a quick wit, and took great pride in doing things the right way, which of course was his way. He loved the beach, but hated the sand, enjoyed traveling with his wife, was an avid reader and history enthusiast, texting multiple people each June 6th to remind them it was D-Day. His favorite movie was Casablanca and his favorite athlete was Willie Mays, the Say Hey kid. His weekends were spent watching Penn State football, the Boston Red Sox, and the E-A-G-L-E-S. He had a love for good bourbon, the blues and classic rock, known for quoting movies in conversation, and found joy in meaningful conversation and spirited debates. He was a British car enthusiast, having restored a 1962 British Racing Green Triumph TR 3B from the frame up using his father’s tools.
Gary spent a large portion of his life serving his community, serving on the Ephrata School Board for 16 years with 12 years as the School Board president, serving on various local Board of Directors and as an Ephrata Lions Club member. As school board president, Gary had the honor of delivering a speech each year at graduation. Unbeknownst to many, each speech was carefully written to thoughtfully include multiple quotes from Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.
Gary will be deeply missed by his family and all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
