Gene Arthur Wessman, 92, of Calabash, NC formerly of Rockford, IL died Saturday, January 13, 2024.
Born in Rockford, IL on May 1, 1931, a son of the late Lloyd Wessman and Gertrude Johnson Wessman. He was predeceased by his wife Beverly Carlson Wessman, a son Daniel Henry, grandson Ryan Wilson, and brothers James and Richard Wessman,
Prior to retirement, he was the owner and operator of Eagle Coin and Gun Shop in Rockford, IL and was a US Navy Veteran having served in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1207 in Rockford, IL, the National Rifle Association, and the Sveasoner Chorus (53 years).
Surviving are daughters Trudee (Kevin) Griffin, Shellie (Mohey Dean) Mohamed, Kathryn (Jeffrey) Hand, Miriam Wilson, and Joyce (Paul) Stoutenburg; his much loved grandchildren, great grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 2PM in the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 5869 Ocean Hwy W., Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469.
Reception following service at the church.
