George Drakulic
Obituary
George Drakulic, age 73, passed away at his home in Ocean Isle Beach, NC on December 8, 2020 due to lung cancer.
Born in Trafford, Pennsylvania on September 30, 1947, he was the son of late Joseph Drakulic and Dorothy Drakulic. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Drakulic.
He graduated from Trafford High School in 1965. George moved to North Carolina in 1979. He worked in telecommunications with AT&T, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Sumitomo Electric.
George was involved in Via De Cristo for many years, there he made many lifelong friends. He was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Raleigh. He moved to Ocean Isle Beach then became an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. George was in the Choir, Lutheran Men in Mission, Nurture and Fellowship, Council and much more. He was chairman of the 2020 Charity Yard Sale at church. He loved to perform at the St Luke Annual Charity Teas. He volunteered many hours at the church.
George had many interests. As a young adult he owned a farm in Pennsylvania, there he had horses. In Greensboro, NC, he owned a rock and mineral shop. He sold gemstones and would attend gem shows throughout the country. He enjoyed buying and selling small antiques and collectibles. George had booths in local antique stores. He loved gardening, he raised beautiful gladiolus.
He had an infectious smile that would light up a room and he never met a stranger. He had a joyful spirit. George was a sweet, caring, and loving man. He was always there for anyone that needed help. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Drakulic; daughters, Dawn Hodge and Jennifer Sanders, stepson, Jonathan Hinkle and wife Wendy; grandchildren Katie, Zachary and Kyle, step grandchildren Savannah, Kaiden and Kiera; brother Joseph Drakulic and wife Jackie; nieces Tami and Stephanie, nephew, Mike; great niece, Calina and great nephew, Jack and many cousins.
A Celebration of Life with be held at St. Luke Lutheran Church, in Ocean Isle Beach, NC at a later date.
