Gerald Wayne Hillman, 73, Shallotte, NC died August 3, 2022.
Born in Mecklenburg County, NC on October 18, 1948, he was a son of the late Howard Charles Hillman, Sr. and Gladys Ruth Smith Hillman. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, William L. Hillman and wife, Betty Hillman; brother, Sidney Hillman; brother-in-law, Jr. Gladden; nephews, Josh Hillman and Bo Wallace.
He was a retired general contractor.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Marie Tollison Hillman; sons, Charles Douglas “Doug” Hillman, Woodland, NC, Joshua Groce, U.S. Army (Samantha), Fayetteville, NC, Brandon Isaac Groce (fiancée, Mackley), U.S. Army, Greensboro, NC; daughter, Jennifer Nicole Abernathy (Adam), Maiden, NC; brothers, Chuck Hillman (Mary), Danville, NC, Mike Hillman (Susie), Cornelius, NC, and Deryle (Melinda) Hillman, Wilmington, NC; sisters, Karen Gladden, Concord, NC and Roxanne Huffman (Dennis), Hildebran, NC; grandchildren, Rebecca Gerard, Bobby Hillman (Claire), Jessica Partain (Billy), Andy Hillman and Lilly Hillman; great-grandchildren, Nyla and Bristol; nephews, J.W. Wallace (Ginger), Charlie Hillman and Jaxx Hillman; nieces, Stacy Poulos, Cheryle Leonhardt, Carol Dillingham, Carrie Holman, Laura Hunning, Kristin Hillman, Allison, Heather, Lindsey, Brook, Sydney Hillman and Stephanie Hillman; serveral great-grand nephews and nieces.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted from the graveside in Sunset Memory Gardens, Mint Hill, NC in September, 2022 at a date and time to be announced.
