Obituary
Mrs. Gladys Marie Clemmons, 89, passed away peacefully in her home on November 2, 2025, in Shallotte, North Carolina. Born on July 20, 1936, in North Carolina, she lived a long and faith-filled life devoted to her family and her Lord.
Gladys was the cherished daughter of Adrain Fountain and Irene Humphrey Fountain and was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Dwight Kenwood Clemmons; three brothers, Bobby, Buster, and Tommy; her son-in-law Scott Morden; and two beloved granddaughters, Savannah Morden and Madilyn Ferster.
A devoted wife and mother, Gladys married her high school sweetheart and together they raised five children—one son and four daughters—instilling in them the values of love, faith, and perseverance. Her children include Michael Dwight Clemmons, Sr. and his wife Daphne Clemmons; Teresa Marie Hewett and her husband Mitchell Hewett; Jacqueline Faye Morden; Judy Clemmons Ferster; and Donna Lynn Hewett and her husband Timothy Hewett; and her sister Libby.
Gladys’ legacy continues through her grandchildren; Michael Clemmons, Jr., Blake Clemmons, Melissa DeBoise, Natasha Varnam, Samantha Morden, Matthew Ferster, Jonathan Ferster, Daniel Ferster, Justin Williams, Joshua Williams, and Ciara Hewett. She was also blessed with fifteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her later years.
Gladys’ unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her existence. She lover her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ deeply and never missed an opportunity to share His word or offer a prayer for someone in need. Her favorite Bible verse was John 14:1-4—a passage that reflects the peace she carried within her heart.
“Let not your heart be trouble: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions . . . .”
Her spiritual devotion left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Whether through prayer or quiet acts of kindness, Gladys touched countless lives with grace and compassion.
A funeral service honoring Gladys’ life will be on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 3:00PM in the Brunswick Funeral Service Shallotte Chapel. Burial will follow the service in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Ferster, Eddie Ferster, Michael Clemmons, Jr., Blake Clemmons, Joshua Williams, and Andrew Burns.
