Gregory Lee Wood

Gregory Lee Wood, 66, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Greg was born in Duplin County, NC on December 9, 1959, to the late Macon McCoy Wood and Elisa Godfrey Wood.  Greg was devoted to helping others in times of need through the Brunswick County Emergency Services.  He was also a member of Soldier Bay Baptist Church and stood strong in his faith.

Greg is survived by his wife Brenda Kay Wood, Ocean Isle Beach, NC; daughters, Heather Wood, Fayetteville, NC, Whitney Wood (Xavier Gause), Charlotte, NC and Leslie Wood (Joshua Yanez), Ocean Isle Beach, NC; brother David Wood (Tara), Liberty, NC; sister Phyllis Turnage (Wayne), Ocean Isle Beach, NC; granddaughter Traeley Renee Yanez and Baby Yanez that will arrive in December along with nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 2pm in the Brunswick Funeral Service Shallotte Chapel officiated by the Reverend Jason L. Benton.  Burial will follow in the Brunswick Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers are Joshua Yanez, Xavier Gause, Andro Yanez, Ricky Wood, Jeff Wood, and Michael Wood.  Honorary pallbearer will be Randy Wilkes.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that contributions be made in honor of Greg to SECU Brunswick Hospice House, Bolivia, NC. 

Greg will be deeply missed by the friends and family but leaves a legacy of unconditional love and compassion that will always be remembered by those who knew him.
