Obituary
On October 28th 2016, Harold J. (Jerry) Coyne Jr. passed away. He was predeceased in death by his loving and faithful wife of 51 years June Moran Coyne.
He is survived by a daughter, Jocelyn Coyne Johnson of Emmaus, PA and a son, Harold J. (Jerome) Coyne III of Chanhassen, MN. Harold is survived by his brother William L. Snyder of (Retired) Baltimore, MD; a sister -in-law Deborah Moran Peterson, her husband John and son Jake. He is survived by his nieces Lynne Snyder Shue and Cynthia Snyder Nipper along with a nephew Stephen Snyder, and his special grandchildren Ava Johnson, Eric Johnson, Quinlan Johnson, Rio Johnson and their father Ken Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father Harold J. Coyne; his mother Martha Lewis Coyne; brother-in-law Joseph J. Moran Jr.; and sister-in-law Sheron Moran.
Jerry was a 1959 graduate of Scranton Central High School; he received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University in 1963 and an M.S.in Metallurgy & Material Science from Lehigh University in 1967 with his thesis: Preparation, Structure & Properties of Sputtered Tantalum Films. He was also a member of Tau Beta Pi Engineering honors society.
His working career began at Western Electric in Reading, PA in 1963 and he retired from Lucent (Nokia) in 2001 after nearly 38 years following assignments of increasing responsibility in the Semiconductor Industry, which included device manufacture, process & product development and sales. He was heavily involved in the early stages of Fiber Optics deployment. He had assignments in Reading, PA (2); Allentown, PA (2); Princeton, NJ (2); New York City, NY (2); San Francisco, CA., and Berkley Heights, NJ.
A mass will celebrated at 12pm. Friday, November 4, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Southport, NC by Father Trent Watts.
Recreationally he enjoyed Skiing & Golf along with family trips across the U.S. He was a Loving father who felt blessed with a supportive family. Those he leaves behind will dearly miss him.
