Herman Lanneau Floyd, 85, of Southport died Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at his residence.
He was born in Mullins, South Carolina, on September 3, 1930, to the late Gordon Floyd and Ruth Causette Hardin Floyd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann, and two sons, Herman L. Floyd, Jr. and Walter Matthew Floyd.
He was a Chief in the United States Navy. Always an outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and feeding squirrels.
Surviving are his son, Terry Floyd of Adam’s Run, SC; daughters, Melba McMillian of Greer, SC and Dianne Monis of Jacksonville, Florida; a sister; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Monday, August 22, 2016, in the Chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service, Southport/Oak Island Chapel. Interment will follow in Northwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
