Obituary
It is with great sadness the Love Family announces the passing of Herman Steve Love Jr on February 13,2023 after a battle with cancer at the age of 77. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior.
Steve is remembered by his loving wife of 58 years, Judy Love and his daughter, Tammy Cumbee (Robert) (Hollywood, SC). He is remembered by Crystal Love, daughter in law (Gresham, SC). He is survived by his sister Christine Harden (Ocean Isle Beach, NC). He is also remembered and survived by his grandchildren: Alyssa Cumbee (Nashville, TN), Alex Canfield (Alameda, CA), Kristyn Murray (Dallas) (Tucson, AZ), Emily Grooms (Carlos) (Lexington, NC), Kimberly Knowlton (Ryan) (New Zion, SC), Jeremy Love (Lexington, NC), Summer Love (Gresham, SC), and Samantha Love (Gresham, SC). He is survived by his great-grandchildren as well: Ayden, Jordan, and Peyton Grooms (Lexington, NC), and Hunter Knowlton (New Zion, SC).
Steve is predeceased by: Herman Steve Love Sr. (father), Hazel Love (mother), Tommy Love (loving son), Connie Love (loving daughter), and Andy Love (brother).
Steve’s love for the Lord was obvious to all that knew him. As life-long Christ follower, he found great joy in the worshipping the Lord especially through song. He always had hymns playing when we (the grandchildren) hopped in the car. He courageously served in the United States Navy and was a proud veteran. He worked after his time in the Navy as a Finish Operator for International Paper. He was a loving husband and an amazing father and grandfather. He was even lucky enough to become a great-grandfather four times.
Although Granddaddy Steve will be greatly missed, we know that he is no longer suffering and filled with peace in Heaven. We know when we eventually meet him there; he will tell us where the dessert table can be found. We love and miss you Granddaddy, and we cannot wait to hug and go fishing again when we meet in Heaven.
