Hilda Mae Hewett Pigott, 93, of Shallotte, NC died peacefully Monday, May 5 2025.  Hilda, better known as Toots by her friends and family, was born on June 19, 1931 to the late Cobie Charles Hewett and Mary Ethel Hewett of Supply, NC.  She was the oldest of 3 girls: Toots, a brunette, Faye, a redhead, and the baby Priscilla, a blonde, were raised on a tobacco farm where their parents also owned and operated CC Hewett General Merchandise.  Toots graduated Shallotte High School in 1949 to continue her dream of nursing at James Walker Memorial Hospital.  She graduated the RN Diploma program in 1952 where she was voted Miss James Walker.  Afterwards, she worked for the renowned pediatrician George M. Kosruba, MD.  Later she enjoyed Occupational Health Nursing employed by Federal Paper Board / International Paper where she retired. Mostly, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  

Toots is survived by her son McKee C. Pigott, Jr. (Annie); daughter Mary P. Pigott; sisters Faye Bellamy, and Priscilla Gupton (Joe); grandchildren:  Anthony Da San Martino, Aaron Da San Martino (Drew), Leigh Pigott (Liz) and great grandchildren John Pigott and Maggie Pigott.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, McKee C. Pigott.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 2pm, in the Chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service Shallotte by the Reverend Jason L. Benton.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Gurganus Cemetery, Shallotte, NC.
