Isabelle Kate Lawless

Isabelle Kate Lawless

On July 2, 2021, Isabelle Kate (Kay) Tambling Lawless passed away peacefully at age 93 in Southport, North Carolina, with her family by her side.

Kay was born February 20, 1928, in Huntington, Suffolk, New York, the only child of Sidney and Isabella (Cormack) Tambling. Kay spent her early years on Long Island before moving to Greenwich, Connecticut. She met William Peter Lawless, Jr. in high school, and they married in 1948 and shared 46 years until his death in 1994.

Kay worked in Greenwich Hospital, State National Bank, catered many parties and managed the books of Lawless Construction.  Kay loved her garden and making centerpieces for friends and neighbors.  She loved cooking and baking.  Most people that knew her have had her fabulous shortbread cookies.   Kay was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother whose heart - and table - always had room for one more. She was the heart and spirit of the Lawless family and the source of great memories that live on with all.

She is survived by her two daughters Brenda Sniffen (Tom) and LuAnn Irvine (Rob) of Southport.  Kay was the grandmother of Kim Hall (Marc) and Ami Kratt (Andy) and four great-grandchildren, Chad, Tommy, Kate, and Ellie.   Kay was also grandma to Scott Nastahowski (Colleen), Heidi Mariano (Danny), TJ Sniffen (Brittany), and many more.

Kay's ashes will be spread, along with those of her husband, along the shores of their beloved Old Saybrook, Connecticut, at a later date.

In place of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Paul's Lutheran Church building fund 761 King St. Rye Brook, New York 10573, or any charity of your choice.
